Ege ALKAN was born in 1989 in Ankara, TURKEY. He received his Bachelor`s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Baskent University in Ankara, Turkey in 2012. Before he gave a decision to pursue his higher education in USA, he had worked as a clinical engineer in two different companies on similar products, which are total artificial heart and heart assist devices for 2 years. During this span of 2 years in the industry, he had been involved numerous open-heart surgeries for the mentioned devices and learnt that being able to communicate and truly understand the needs of patients is just critical as a passion for developing devices and an analytical mindset. Then, he moved to Los Angeles, California/USA to start his Marketing education in University of California Los Angeles. Not long after his graduation he got accepted to University of California Irvine for his Master`s degree on Biomedical Engineering. His Master`s thesis was on implementing of a novel helically oriented contractile concept on heart assist device. During his thesis project, he had chance creating and implementing medical device prototypes, conducting ex-vivo studies, running bench tests and so on. Now, he works as a consultant for medical companies and his recent project involves R&D studies for a cardiovascular device. Some of his career plans is to obtain Six Sigma and project management certifications along with improving his Spanish skills.
