Dr. Alper Yaman is currently a senior research expert at Fraunhofer IPA. He has been focused on exoskeletons, wearable robots, artificial muscles, medical diagnosis, rehabilitation technologies, IoT, smart sensors, and machine learning applications in these fields. He received his BSc in Physics (2000), MSc (2003), and Ph.D. (2014) in Biomedical Engineering from Bogazici University, Turkey. In his Ph.D. thesis, he focused specifically on MRI assessment of epimuscular myofascial force transmission and manual therapies. He was awarded with Necmi Tanyolac Award and also granted by TUBITAK in his post-doctoral research in 2014. In his post-doctoral studies at Tennessee State University (2014-2015), he worked on meso-scale robots for detection within narrow canals and pipes, sensor fusion, and agriculture robots. He worked as an assistant professor at Yeditepe University between 2015 and 2018. He lectured “Medical Robotics”, “Biomechanics”, “Biomedical Sensors and Transducers”, “Magnetic Resonance Imaging”, and “Modelling and Control of Dynamic Systems”. In different periods, he worked in the private sector as an R&D and software engineer for four years and a business development manager for one year.
